Solar subsidies in India
The central PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana gives residential rooftop solar a direct subsidy — and many states add a top-up on top.

Who is eligible?
- Indian residential households with a valid electricity connection.
- You own the rooftop (or have permission to install).
- Installation done by a vendor registered with your DISCOM.
- Subsidy is for residential rooftop — separate schemes apply for housing societies and commercial/industrial.
How to apply
- 1Register on the national portal pmsuryaghar.gov.in with your electricity consumer number and mobile.
- 2Apply for rooftop solar and wait for feasibility approval from your DISCOM.
- 3Get the system installed by a DISCOM-registered vendor.
- 4Submit plant details and apply for net metering.
- 5After inspection and meter installation, upload bank details — the subsidy is credited to your account.
